On the 10th anniversary of IATA’s Operational Safety Audit Program (IOSA), Qatar Airways’ safety standards across the airline’s entire operations was recognised by the International Air Transport Association (IATA). The safety audit is IATA’s stringent mandatory auditing program that assesses the operational management and control systems of member airlines worldwide and is an internationally recognised and accepted evaluation system.
Akbar Al Baker, Chief Executive Officer, Qatar Airways said that the airline is proud to be the first carrier worldwide to conform 100 per cent with IATA’s safety audit when it was launched in 2003. “Qatar Airways has taken part in IATA’s safety audit biennially for the past ten years, conforming 100% on every occasion, demonstrating our extremely high safety standards and highly effective operating systems,” he said adding that the safety and security of all the passengers and staff is their top priority,” he said.
Accepting the honour on behalf of the airline at the IATA Ops Conference held in Vienna recently, Ashish Jain, Senior Vice President Group Safety and Security, Qatar Airways said, The benchmarks set out by IATA’s Operation Safety Audit are paramount to the airline’s success. Qatar Airways’ participation in this audit enables continuous enhancements in aviation best practices, which is an area of constant focus for the airline.”
Over the next few weeks and months, Qatar Airways will launch scheduled flights to a diverse portfolio of new routes, including Salalah, Oman (May 22); Basra, Iraq (June 3); Sulaymaniyah, Iraq (August 20); and Chengdu, China (September 3), with many more start-ups to be announced.
Qatar Airways has seen rapid growth in just 16 years of operations, currently flying a modern fleet of 122 aircraft to 126 key business and leisure destinations across Europe, Middle East, Africa, Asia Pacific and The Americas.
