Singapore Airlines (SIA), in association with Tourism & Events Queensland, recently unveiled the destination’s new promotional campaign ‘Go Beyond with Singapore Airlines’. The campaign highlights Queensland and its easy accessibility through SIA in the light of seamless connections and single ticket bookings with their domestic partner Virgin Australia. The campaign was launched by former Cricketer Matthew Hayden in Mumbai.
The first step of the campaign saw Singapore Airlines and SilkAir offering a special all-inclusive return fare of Rs 59,000 on any of their flights from India to Brisbane. Speaking about its operations in India, GM Toh, General Manager India, Singapore Airlines revealed that the company plans to add a flight each out of Hyderabad and Coimbatore for the peak season to meet demands.
“We are revamping our economy class cabins to better serve our passengers, and will also add new cabin products such as internet on our newly ordered 777-300 aircraft. In addition, we have requested for lounge space in Mumbai and are awaiting permissions. We are targeting 100 flights from India within this year and are especially keen to grow in tier II cities,” he added. The airline currently enjoys a 75 per cent load factor out of West Asia.
Speaking about the tie up with Tourism Queensland, Toh stated that Singapore Airlines is the largest foreign carrier from India into Australia and will hence support them in future promotions as well.
