Rail Europe and Swiss Tourism launch new programme

Recognising the potential that Switzerland holds for Indian tourists, Rail Europe has now joined hands with Switzerland Tourism and Swiss Travel System to launch the Swiss Pass SuperStar Program.

This is an online programme aimed at the travel trade and will run for a period of six months, till 3 October, 2013. The programme comprises six modules and one winner will be selected each month and the overall winner stands to win a chance to go on an all-expense paid trip to Switzerland. Every module in the programme contains 10 multiple-choice questions and this needs to be completed within a span of 60 days. Apart from answering the questions right, the participants will also be monitored for their contribution to ticket sales.

Kunal Kothari, Executive Director, Rail Europe India, said, “Every year, a certain amount of the marketing budget is allocated for co-marketing activities. This year, we decided to utilise the same for the Swiss Pass SuperStar Program. For the first time, Rail Europe is doing an incentive and quiz programme for its B2B clients on such a large scale. The objective of the Program is to promote Swiss Pass and Switzerland along with Rail Europe in order to enable the travel trade to learn from the Program and sell the destination better. The Program covering Switzerland in its entirety will educate the travel agents on various product offers through various modules.”

Ritu Sharma, Deputy Director-India, Switzerland Tourism, stated, “The main objective is to increase awareness of the Swiss Pass among the travel trade in India. We would like to make them aware of how easy it is to travel within Switzerland with a Swiss Pass and the efficiency of the Swiss Travel System. It is probably the only public transportation network where one ticket works on all modes of transport, including trains, buses, boats and trams within the cities. It also offers up to 50 per cent discount on most mountain excursions, free admission to over 450 museums all over Switzerland, and includes panoramic trains such as Glacier Express.”
