CzechTourism Focuses on Indian MICE

The Czech Republic, popular for its capital city Prague, is now highlighting the other cities and experiences in the distinctive regions of the country. To support this, the Czech Tourist Authority – CzechTourism started the year by participating in SATTE 2020, where it got an opportunity to interact with the members of the travel fraternity and educate them on the several other destinations within the country. In addition to this, the tourism board, along with the Embassy of the Czech Republic in New Delhi, organized a networking evening which was well attended by the travel agents and media.

“Czech cities have been hosting an increasing number of visitors from India for years. Since 2017 we have seen profound increase in arrivals from India. While Prague continues to be popular among travelers, cities like Brno, Cesky Krumlov, Karlovy Vary, Olomouc, Ostrava, Kutna Hora, Telc and Plzen, are gaining increased attention from India market,” Jan Herget, Managing Director, CzechTourism says on his first visit to India,

The segment from India that contributes the most to the annual footfall is from the millennial age group. These are the leisure travellers with family on a holiday, who are looking at customized holiday experience and want to do something unique. Apart from this, a significant contribution comes from MICE segment as well.

Commenting on the target market, Herget said, “India is a big and one among the valued markets for us, both for leisure and business travels. We plan to keep focusing on the Leisure and MICE markets, with a greater emphasis on MICE segment as it demonstrates a considerable potential in India. This will be supported by organizing networking evenings, conducting destination trainings and sales calls in select tier 1 cities of India, and focusing towards online activations to increase the awareness about the destination.”

The key highlights of the Czech Republic for the year 2020 are Brno along with Lednice & Valtice Complex, popularly known for its wine experiences; Plzen & Ceske Budejovice for an experiential Beer Trail; Ostrava for the famous music festival- Colours of Ostrava; and Liberec Region which falls in North Bohemia, known for nature trails. The greatest Czech treasures- its Castles and Chateaux will continue to remain one of the major highlights as they make great venue for incentive groups, weddings, family holidays or a romantic getaway.
