JNTO introduces Okinawa as a wedding destination in India

In an effort to position Okinawa as the next wedding destination in the Indian market, Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO) recently organized a wedding seminar in Delhi. The seminar was attended by 35-40 wedding planners and media from the Delhi market.

The Okinawa prefecture consisting of pristine beaches, colorful coral reefs with an island mindset ticks all buckets of that perfect beach wedding one can dream of.  Present at the seminar were the delegates representing Okinawa Prefecture, Rizzan Sea Park Hotel Tanchana Bay, Kariyushi Hotels Group, ANA InterContinental Manza Beach Resort, DMC Okinawa, Cathay Pacific, Japan Airlines, and JNTO.

The conference began with a welcoming speech by JNTO, followed by the presentation from representatives of varied Okinawa-based hotels and resorts, and onboard airlines. There were also few presentations by the wedding planners who were earlier taken to Okinawa, to give them an in-depth firsthand experience of the destination. They showcased the exact details, which any wedding planner would need while suggesting their clientele about a location.

“According to FICCI, India’s wedding tourism market is slated to jump to 450 billion rupees ($6.5 billion) by 2020. The Indian market is currently witnessing a rise in the middle-class group and high spending power. Therefore, we see a high potential in this market and want to penetrate in this segment by educating the travel agents who play a very critical role in decision making. The Okinawa prefecture in Japan would definitely be the best fit for such a lifetime memorable event. We are certain that they would be allured by the beauty of Okinawa and the scenic beauty of the destination will add charm to their wedding ceremonies.” said Yusuke Yamamoto, Executive Director, Japan National Tourism Organization.
