Inbound arrivals up by 1.8% during Jan – May 2019

The Foreign Tourist Arrivals (FTAs) in May 2019 were 6,10,590 as  compared  to  6,06,522  in  May  2018 registering a growth of  0.7 per cent. FTAs  during  the  period  January-May 2019 were 45,45,883 as  compared  to 44,67,393 in January-May 2018 registering a growth of  1.8 per cent.

The  percentage  share  of  FTAs in  India  during May,2019 among  the  top  15  source  countries  was  highest  from Bangladesh (28.37%) followed  by USA (16.24%), UK(6.90%),  Malaysia  (3.75%),China  (3.59%),Australia   (2.81%), Canada   (2.60%),Japan   (2.47%),   Sri   Lanka   (2.34%),    Germany (2.30%),Singapore (2.01%), France (1.84%),   Nepal (1.61%), Rep. of  Korea (1.61%) and Thailand (1.19%).

During  January-May2019,  a  total  of 12,32,862 tourist  arrived  on  e-Tourist Visa as compared to 10,13,156 during January-May 2018, registering a growth of  21.7 per cent.
