Contiki launches new India itinerary

After a forty year break from operating product in the region, Contiki has launched a brand new Indian itinerary – a move the brand’s Asia head says will increase brand awareness and encourage more young travellers to join trips abroad.

The Eternal India trip will whisk intrepid young explorers away on a journey through India: from Delhi to Agra to Jaipur to Goa, immersing them in the magic and mystery of India at a relaxed pace. This incredible trip allows for solo discovery and exploration in each destination.

The Director of Sales and Marketing for Contiki Asia, Sam Morrah, says the new trip is not only a fantastic way to showcase India to young travellers from around the world, but will also help increase brand awareness in the India market where bookings to other destinations such as Europe have increased by 30 per cent this year.

“It’s unlikely we’ll see many Indian travellers looking to travel on a Contiki trip in their own country, however young Indians will see just how many travellers from around the world choose Contiki to show them the best travel experiences and this will no doubt result in more young Indian travellers seeking to travel with us to other destinations.”

The Eternal India trip will take place over 12 days, following Contiki’s more relaxed ‘In-Depth Explorer’ pace. Travellers get the chance to visit Delhi, Agra, Ranthambore, Jaipur, Udaipur, Mumbai and finally Goa. An amazing group atmosphere, great food and top notch accommodation and transport, another Contiki staple is the best included and optional activities as standard on all trips. The Eternal India is no exception, with local tour guides on hand to give travellers the authentic and local experience in each city, excursions to several heritage sites, a safari and special stay at Ranthambore National Park and a trip to the world famous Taj Mahal. Some of the amazing optional activities on this new Indian itinerary include a cooking demonstration and local family supper in Jaipur, a Bollywood tour in Mumbai, a tour of Mumbai at dawn and a Yoga class on the beach.

“Recently we’ve seen a sharp rise in the demand for more authentic, out of comfort-zone travel experiences that give young people more of a sense of adventure and make them feel far from home,” said Alexis Sitaropoulos, Contiki’s Vice President of Marketing. “Our amazing new India trip really captures this style of travelling, but also provides for the best food, accommodation and in region travel as well, serving up the best of both worlds to our savvy young travellers”.
