Shanti Hospitality launches second property, Nidra New Delhi

Nidra Hotels, which launched its first property in Vadodara in December 2010, unveiled its second property in the country in New Delhi recently. “Nidra is a four-star hotel that would match a five-star property in terms services. It is a full-service hotel brand that focuses on freshness and is aimed at catering to the need of young and aspiring Indians,” Sunil Ghadiok, President, Nidra Hospitality, said.

Located on National Highway 8 near Indira Gandhi International Airport, New Delhi, the 70-room hotel is spread over an 11-acre land and has an open area to cater to large banquets and other social events. The hotel has been constructed to tap the MICE business from Delhi and NCR region. It has three dedicated indoor meeting areas – Utsav I, Utsav II and Utsav III – as well as a board room. In all, the property boasts of a 76,000-sq-ft function space. He added that the group is aiming to work closely with airlines to get direct business from the airport. “Weddings and social functions are other major segments we are going to target in Delhi,” he added.

Nidra Hotel, which is a part of Shanti Hospitality that operates in five verticals – destination spa (Ananda in the Himalayas); five-star luxury (Ista); mid-market leisure (Amritara); boutique lifestyle (Nira Hotels & Resorts); and mid-market city (Nidra), is looking at expanding its footprint in the country. “We are looking at opening one hotel every year. We will be opening two hotels in Bengaluru, and one each in Dahej, Ahmedabad, Allahabad, Shirdi, Kashipur and Tirupati, amongst other places. We have already acquired land near Bengaluru airport and at Koramandala,” he revealed, adding that there are nine hotels in the pipeline for the next 10 years. ‘We should have 1,500 rooms in the next decade,” he opined.

Replying to a question over the management contracts and acquisitions, he said that the group is open to running properties if they meet the requirements of the Nidra brands.
