The Windflower Vythiri – a unique experience

Wayanad District in the north-east of Kerala was formed by carving out areas from Kozhikode and Kannur districts. Home to exotic legends, ancient ruins, mysterious mountain caves, aboriginal tribes, tree houses, jungle trails and exotic wild life, Wayanad is the perfect setting for a great holiday. The region was known as Mayakshetra (Maya’s land) in the earliest records and later evolved into Mayanad and finally to Wayanad. There are many indigenous tribals in this area and is set high on the majestic Western Ghats with altitudes ranging from 700 to 2100 m. What’s more, it is the least populous district in Kerala. Located near Vythiri, on 25 acres of lush greenery overlooking the magnificent Chembara Peak is The Windflower Spa and Resorts. A half a kilometre rustic drive off Vythiri highway will get you to this property. The forty room structure is built w i t h a u n i q u e a r c h i t e c t u r a l s t y l e and equipped with F&B outlets, a spa with four treatment rooms and conferencing facility for multinational companies. Windflower Vythiri is set in a tranquil coffee and tea estate - a rich legacy of an English planter’s pioneering spirit. In fact, from the time you drive in, the sweep of Vythiri’s landscape, the signature Buddha statue and water bodies prepare you for the serenity of this resort. The sight of the awe-inspiring Chembra Peak, from the room sit outs are breath taking. This scenic sight is yours even as you sit down to breakfast at their restaurant’s expansive open air balcony; or when you wait outside the spa and or use the swimming pool fringed by silver trees. The Kerala themed architecture with Indonesian furniture and dark wooden floors lend an aesthetic air while roomy interiors and high ceilings enhance the sense of space in all their villas and suites. Every room is an independent relaxation or recreational hub courtesy free Wi-Fi, cable television and DVD players, while spacious, elegantly designed bathrooms, embellished with the Iraya range of natural bath products take the experience even further. The Windflower Resorts & Spa was started with the aim to become a hospitality industry leader through establishing a portfolio of luxury resorts at various locations in India. To date, the Windflower portfolio includes resorts in Mysore, Coorg, Bandipur, Vythiri and Pondicherry.
