Sarovar Hotels and Resorts appoints Rajesh Kumar as the new General Manager for Sarovar Premiere, Jaipur. With a career spanning 22 years in the hotel industry, Rajesh brings with him his strong analytical and planning skills, business driven and people-oriented management style.

Prior to his present role, he was associated with Nile Hospitality based in Ahmedabad. He also worked with brands like Hyatt, Taj, Grand Hyatt, Shangri-La , IHG, and The Lalit.

Travel technology company Fareportal recently launched an enhanced travel rewards program for online travel agencies CheapOair and OneTravel.

CheapOair and One Travel Rewards programs, already in place, adds some exciting and consumer-friendly new features including Instant Redemption.

With the signing up of an almost century-old heritage Luxury resort, Leisure Hotels Group (LHG) has announced its entry into ‘Mussoorie. Kempegowda International Airport, Bengaluru (BLR Airport) has bagged the Best Regional Airport in India and South Asia title in the 2022 Skytrax World Airport Awards. Etihad Airways is launching five seasonal routes this week that connect Abu Dhabi to popular summer hotspots across Europe and the Indian Ocean. Three seasonal services took off on June 17, connecting Abu Dhabi to Nice on the famous French Côte d’Azur, the historic city of Heraklion on the Greek island of Crete, and Malaga in Spain. All three services are set to be operated on a twice-per-week basis.

Etihad’s summer schedule will get a further boost in the next two days with the establishment of routes to the islands of Santorini in Greece and Zanzibar in Tanzania, both operating three times weekly.

“Summer adventurers have plenty to discover with Etihad Airways this year,” said Martin Drew, Senior Vice President Global Sales. “From the stunning beaches of the Costa del Sol to the picture-perfect French Riviera, Etihad’s summer network offers even more opportunities to get away and experience the wonder of travel in 2022.”

Akasa Air, India’s newest airline, took delivery of its much anticipated first Boeing 737 MAX aircraft in Seattle, USA.

With a strong commitment to democratise the skies, the airlines’ total order of 72 aircraft includes an initial delivery of 18 aircraft by March 2023, followed by delivery of the remaining 54 aircraft over the course of the next four years.

Commenting on the successful delivery, Vinay Dube - Founder, Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer, Akasa Air said, “This is indeed a symbolic milestone in the journey of Akasa Air, bringing us one step closer to the process of obtaining our Air Operator’s Permit (AOP) and leading to our commercial launch. While we are extremely happy with this achievement, we want to keep ourselves focussed on the task of delivering on our vision to transform India’s air transportation ecosystem, support the nation’s economic growth engine and help fellow Indians chase their dreams”.

“We are grateful to Boeing and Griffin for their trust in us and supporting us early in our journey. I, along with our team, are looking forward to receiving our first aircraft in Delhi early next week as it arrives from Seattle”. Dube added.

Nest Jaipur has appointed Manoj Thapa as the General Manager for Nest Jaipur. Manoj will be responsible for implementing high standards of services, business strategies and overseeing the entire hotel operations.

 

Prior to joining Jaipur Nest, he was working as a Consulting General Manager with Cabana Resort and Spa, Jalandhar.

During his 35 years of career in the hospitality industry, he worked with Four Points by Sheraton, Hyatt Regency, Svelte, Radisson, and The Claridge.

Novotel Hyderabad Airport elevates Parul Sethi to the Director of Sales and Marketing. With an experience of over 13 years in the hospitality industry, she has worked with Indian and international brands prior to initiating her journey with Accor group. During her previous role in 2019, she was the Director of sales at Novotel Hyderabad Airport.

She will now be responsible for the entire sales and marketing program along with the application of strategies and budgets for the hotel. 

Ankur Chandra is appointed as the new General Manager-Development for Sarovar Hotels. With 20 years of experience in hotel operations to pre-opening, development, and projects, Ankur will be responsible for underlining Sarovar’s strategy to boost new projects and development.

 

Prior to this, he was with Cygnett Hotels as the Director of Operations and Development. He has also worked with brands like Park Inn, Taj, Asiana Hotels, The Fern, Tulip Inn, Aloft, and Royal Orchid.

Airports Authority of India has undertaken the work for construction of New Greenfield Airport, Rajkot in Gujarat. With the project cost of Rs. 1405 crores, the new airport is envisioned to be a transportation hub for people traveling abroad from the state.

Spread over 2534 acres, a new greenfield airport has been planned with modern facilities and conveniences for the travellers with increased number of counters and other necessary facilities. The location of new airport is approximately 30 kms from Rajkot city and on Rajkot-Ahmadabad highway. With total built-up area of 23,000 sqm excluding basement, the terminal building of this new airport will be capable to handle 1800 passengers during peak hours.

The terminal will be equipped with state-of-the-art passenger facilities, four passenger boarding bridges, three conveyor belts and 20 check-in counters along with modern firefighting and fire alarm system. The city side area of the airport will also be developed for adequate parking facilities for car, taxi and buses along with landscaping. Runway length is planned for 3040 m for serving AB-321type of aircraft which will be capable of parking 14 aircraft at a time.

The terminal façade design is influenced from the existing Palaces of Rajkot like the Ranjit Vilas Palace, integrating traditional elements into a contemporary form. An outer skin of traditional Jalis of Palaces is provided to minimize the heat gain inside building.

More than 82% of earth work and 80% of Runway and other pavement works have been completed. The work for new terminal building & ATC Tower is also in progress. To commission the airport, an interim terminal building of size 60m x 60m capable of handling 300 passengers per hour is also in progress. The present progress of the total project is 45%. It is expected that the new airport will be ready for operation by March 2023.

Being located on Rajkot-Ahmadabad highway, this airport will aim to reduce time and cost related to logistics for multiple industries in the region. More Importantly, the ceramic industry of Morbi and other industries of Jamnagar also depend on Rajkot for air connectivity.

The plans to modernize and beautify the ancient city of Rajkot are already in place and all such infrastructure development projects including construction of greenfield airport will help promote the local business houses adding economic wealth to the country.
