SATTE, South Asia’s biggest travel and tourism show, is expecting the presence of 200+ foreign buyers at SATTE 2020, scheduled to be held during January 8-10, 2020 at India Expo Centre, Greater Noida, Delhi-NCR.

SATTE’s foreign buyers programme is well supported by many stakeholders of the industry. Like previous years, the Ministry of Tourism, Govt of India has already extended its support to SATTE by offering air passage to foreign buyers. Airlines such as Air Arabia and Air Astana have agreed to bring buyers from their respective destinations to SATTE 2020. Meanwhile, SATTE is also talking to Indian national carrier Air India in order to get support for its foreign buyer program.  Inbound operators like Tamarind Global and Go India Journeys are already on board and sourcing buyers from across the world.

International associations like Universal Federation of Travel Agents Association (UFTAA) and Skal are also supporting SATTE’s foreign buyer program. With all these support, SATTE is well set to welcome over 200 foreign buyers from more than 50 countries for its 27th edition.

Also, SATTE has received a very encouraging response for its domestic buyer program. SATTE 2020 has already received the paid registration of 400+ domestic buyers. SATTE is expecting another 200 paid domestic buyers. Similar to the previous editions, SATTE rolled out its Buyer Programme with attractive offers, which has been well received by the travel and tourism fraternity in the country.

The new age carrier Vietjet’s Thai counterpart - Thai Vietjet announced its latest direct route connecting Udon Thani with Bangkok (Suvarnabhumi) and Chiang Rai.

With the announcement of expanding operations to India and now opening new Thai routes, Vietjet is investing to build strong connect with and among South Asian countries by being a preferable airline to travel with. The travelers from New Delhi can now choose Vietjet to fly to Thailand via Ho Chi Minh or Hanoi for a hassle-free travel in the comfort of home.

To celebrate the new routes, more than 10,000 super-saving tickets priced from USD 0 are being given away for 10 days with special promotion starting today to October 19, 2019. The promotional tickets are applied to all Thai Vietjet’s routes from Bangkok (Suvarnabhumi) to Dalat, Da Nang (Vietnam) and Taichung (Taiwan) as well as all Thai domestic routes from Bangkok (Suvarnabhumi) to Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Phuket, Krabi, Udon Thani, Phuket – Chiang Rai, and Udon Thani – Chiang Rai. Travel time is from 10 November 2019 to 10 January 2020.

The VITS Kamats Group has recently launched VITS Gazebo Resort in Pattaya, Thailand. This is the second hotel of the Group in Thailand. The VITS Gazebo Resort will bring the best of global practices and warm, intuitive Indian hospitality in a modern and efficient setting.

The Fern Hotels & Resorts has opened The Fern Ranthambhore Forest Resort, in Sawai Madhopur, Rajasthan. This is the 8th hotel of the company in Rajasthan. Overall, the company’s count has extended to 67 hotels across the country and in Nepal and Seychelles. The Resort offers 46 cottage rooms apart from other facilities.

The Jordan Tourism Board (JTB) recently conducted multi-city seminars and roadshows in Kochi, Ahmedabad, Chennai, Hyderabad, Delhi, Bangalore and Mumbai with three partners- Emilio Travel, Hajjat Tours and Travels and Friends Tours to strengthen relationships with the leading travel agents and tour operators to boost Indian arrivals to Jordan.

The aim of the seminars and roadshows was to educate the trade partners from different regions and discuss the business model for 2019-2020. JTB showcased attractions and offerings for leisure and MICE under various categories to promote it to their focused market.

“India is an emerging market with a huge population and a growing economy, especially in the IT sector, which caters for the potential in the Indian market for MICE tourism, faith tourism, weddings, and movie production. Jordan's tourism revenue increased by 9.2% compared to the same period of 2018. The tourism revenue reached $3.95 billion within the first 8 months of 2019,” Abed Al Razzaq Issam Arabiyat, MD, JTB, said.

Crowne Plaza Today New Delhi Okhla has been ranked first amongst all the South Delhi Municipal Corporation’s (SDMC) Central Zone hotels. SDMC had conducted a zone-wise Swachh Sarvekshan for all the hotels falling under its jurisdiction with an objective of inculcating a spirit of healthy competition among them to become Delhi's cleanest hotel, in order to give impetus to Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.

Infact as per the IHG mandate, we are working towards replacing miniature plastic bottled amenities with bulk size dispensers in our hotel bathrooms to combat the menace of single use plastic. “

Chander Sharma, Chief Engineer, Crowne Plaza Today New Delhi Okhla said, “In our waste to energy initiative, our Bio Methanation Plant converts the organic waste into bio-fuel which is used in our staff cafeteria and the remaining slurry is used as an excellent fertilizer for gardening purposes. We reuse the treated water from Sewage Treatment Plant for HVAC cooling towers, gardening and WC flushing. We have also partnered with government authorized vendors for E Waste Management. We are also harnessing solar energy for water heating. “

Maldives goes on Guiness World Record for the most people freediving simultaneously, with 520 participants on Tuesday, 1 October 2019. The small island broke the world record previously held by Italy; 'La Scuola del Mare 2' (Verona), in Torri del Benaco, Verona with 280 people. Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, President of Maldives joined the event titled Neyvaa, freediving with the participants including freediving world champion William Trubridge, a double world record holding freediver from New Zealand. Officials from the Guiness World Record declared the achievement as a new world record while presenting the certificate to President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.

Maldives is set to host two other world record attempts in the coming weeks, with Michal Kapral, a Canadian joggler based in Toronto, Ontario. During his trip to Maldives, Kapral will attempt to make two world records. First, he will attempt breaking his own record for the fastest 10-kilometer run while juggling without a drop, during TFG’s CocaCola RunInAddu 2019 on 5 October 2019. His second record-breaking attempt will feature him attempting world record for climbing most consecutive stairs, up to 1,776 steps, while juggling three objects. He will attempt this on 11 October 2019 during the Children’s Evening Held in Sultan Park, Male, Maldives. These events, in partnership with MMPRC hope to promote the destination for sports tourism.

MMPRC is currently gearing up for 2020 to promote the destination for niche markets such as MICE, Sports and Cultural Tourism.

Hotel management company Goldstone Hotels & Resorts announced the opening of Goldstone Elite in Vrindavan. This is company’s seventh operating hotel in India and it plans to launch 8 more hotels by December 2019.

The company plans on expanding its portfolio in key destinations across the country under six different brands called Comfort, Elite, Luxury, Exotic, Heritage, and Stay. It is also looking at global expansion.
