Jewel Changi Airport (Jewel) gave selected members of the public a sneak peek into the one-of-a-kind lifestyle destination. The 135,700 sqm complex is designed by world-renowned architect Moshe Safdie and features a distinctive dome- shaped façade.
Hung Jean, Chief Executive Officer, Jewel Changi Airport Devt, said, “The vision for Jewel Changi Airport is to be a destination where ‘The World meets Singapore, and Singapore meets the World’. The unique proposition of world-class shopping and dining, seamlessly integrated with lush greenery, fulfils the needs of increasingly discerning travellers for a meaningful and experiential journey, even for brief layovers.”
As the region’s leading air hub, the opening of Jewel will further strengthen Changi Airport’s position as the transit hub of choice among travellers. Connected to 18 Indian cities via more than 280 weekly services, India is the sixth largest market for Changi Airport. In 2018, 4.8 million passenger movements were registered to and from India, the strongest growth among Changi Airport’s top ten markets, with a year-on-year increase of 12 per cent. As Asia’s most connected city to India, Jewel will enhance Singapore’s attractiveness as a tourism destination for Indian travellers with its exciting mix of offerings, facilities and experiences.
