IndiGo enters into punctual airlines list

Following the recent increase in the IndiGo flight frequencies for business and leisure travellers across network, the airline has been recognised as one of the leading On-Time Performer in the Asia-Pacific region by FlightStats, Inc. – one of the leaders in global flight information services, part of FlightGlobal – in the 8th Annual Airline On-Time Performance Service Awards, January 2017.

Annual Airline On-Time Performance Service Awards is an annual award series conferred by FlightStats, Inc. to honor the “Best of the Best” airlines that demonstrate consistently high performance and deliver on their promise to get passengers to their destinations in a timely manner. To determine the finalists and winners, FlightStats examines flight status and arrival data aggregated from global sources including civil aviation authorities, airlines, airports, and major airline reservation systems. This year, the awards expanded to recognise the best Major Global Airline and best Major Global Airline Network in each of the regional categories as well as the international category. IndiGo has been recognised amongst major carriers including Japan Airlines, Virgin Australia, Qantas, Air New Zealand, Singapore Airlines, Cathay Pacific, Jetstar and Jet Airways (India).

Aditya Ghosh, President and Whole Time Director, IndiGo said, “We are happy to be recognised amongst the leading Asia-Pacific carriers. We are striving hard towards gaining number one position on any Indian carrier on world stage for its On-Time Performance.”

The entire fleet of 125 aircraft is equipped with technology called Aircraft Communications Addressing and Reporting System (ACARS). Before departure of every IndiGo flight, an automatic message is trigged from the aircraft via ACARS to our operations control centre (OCC) – and immediately the same departure time gets recorded in the software. Likewise, the moment an aircraft lands at the destination, an automatic message is trigged from the aircraft to the OCC. These timings are recorded ‘real time’, automatically through ACARS i.e. without a human intervention. Hence, our On Time Performance is diligently monitored for every flight – real time. In addition, IndiGo closes the check-in counters for all 6E flights operating across all destinations, 45 minutes prior to the departure.
