Goa appoints EcostanInfra for cleaning 51 beaches

Effective from March 1, 2025, contractor will be responsible for lifting all types of waste across various beaches, ensuring quality control and efficiency.

The Department of Tourism, Government of Goa, has appointed EcostanInfra Pvt. Ltd. as the new contractor for “Providing Comprehensive Cleanliness on the Beach Stretches of the State of Goa.” The contract, effective from March 1, 2025, covers the collection, segregation, transportation, and disposal of waste on 51 nominated beaches across North and South Goa.

Speaking about the initiative, Kedar Naik, Director of Tourism, stated, “The appointment of EcostanInfra Pvt. Ltd. marks a significant step in our commitment to keeping Goa’s beaches clean and enhancing visitor experiences. With an efficient waste management system in place, we aim to preserve the natural beauty of our coastline while promoting responsible tourism practices.”

The identified North Goa beaches (23 beaches) include: Keri, Kalacha, Arambol, Mandrem, Ashvem, Morjim, Vagator, Ozran, Anjuna, Baga, Calangute, Candolim, Sinquerim, Nerul, Miramar, Caranzalem, Dona Paula, Odxel, Vainguinim Beach, Nauxim & Cacra, Siridao, Bambolim, and Agassaim. The South Goa beaches (28 beaches) covered under this initiative include: Baina, Bogmalo, Hollant, Velsao, Arrosim, Utorda, Majorda, Betalbatim, Colva, Sernabatim, Benaulim, Varca, Zalor & Fatrade, Cavelossim, Mobor, Canaguinim, Cabo de Rama, Cola, Agonda, Butterfly, Palolem, Patnem, Rajbag, Talpona, Galgibag, Xandrem, Polem, and Kharewada.

A total of 122 approach roads leading to the 51 beaches have been identified for regular cleaning. The contractor will ensure cleanliness up to 100 meters from the beach entrance and deploy adequate labourers and two road sweeping machines for this purpose. The term of the contract is five years, with a possible extension of up to two years based on satisfactory performance. 52 supervisors have been appointed to oversee cleaning operations across various beaches, ensuring quality control and efficiency. To maintain cleanliness, 240-liter dustbins will be placed at 50-meter intervals, while 660-liter bins will be installed at beach entrances and other high-footfall locations.

As per the contract, beach cleaning activities will be conducted daily in two shifts: Morning Shift: 6:00 AM – 12:00 Noon & Evening Shift: 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM.
