Highlights New Zealand’s tourism appeal to Indian travel agents through familiarisation tour.

In a strategic initiative to deepen partnerships with the Indian travel trade, General Travel New Zealand, in collaboration with Global Destinations, its official representative in India, and with support from the New Zealand tourism industry trade partners, recently hosted a select group of leading Indian travel agents on an immersive familiarization (famil) tour across New Zealand.

The familiarisation tour showcased the country’s landscapes, hospitality, and tailored attractions for Indian travellers. This initiative aimed to equip Indian travel agents with in-depth practical destination knowledge, enabling them to create unforgettable itineraries for their clients.

The curated itinerary featured some of New Zealand’s most preferrable destinations, blending adventure, luxury, and cultural experiences like Auckland, Rotorua, Twizel, Queenstown, Christchurch.

Anna Black, Executive Director of General Travel New Zealand, expressed her enthusiasm for the initiative, “We are delighted to have hosted this famil tour, giving Indian travel agents a comprehensive insight into New Zealand’s unique offerings. This is our first agents’ famil after a long hiatus, but we are committed to making it a bi-annual event. There really is nothing like putting the theoretical knowledge into practical experience for these sellers, as we continue to welcome more visitors from this growing market.”

Pruthvi Khetani, COO of Global Destinations, highlighted the significance of the initiative for the Indian market: “This famil was a fantastic opportunity for these travel agents to experience New Zealand first-hand, allowing them to craft extraordinary journeys for their clients. These agents have been actively selling New Zealand for years, but for all, this was their first visit. With India emerging as a key visitor market, initiatives like this help build strong partnerships and create personalised travel experiences that truly resonate with Indian travellers.”

The initiative is expected to drive increased bookings, as travel professionals can now confidently promote the destination with first-hand knowledge and expert recommendations.
