Frankfurt anticipates a 10% surge in Indian travelers in 2025

India’s outbound tourism to Frankfurt is said to grow significantly in 2024, accounting for a sizeable share of the city’s foreign visitors. Over 200,000 Indian travellers are reported to visit Germany annually, with Frankfurt being the key entry point. A further 10 percent increase is expected in 2025.

Improved connectivity, developing business relations and greater understanding of Frankfurt’s cultural attractions are said to be some of the reasons behind the growth rate of Indian visitors travelling to Frankfurt. The Frankfurt-Delhi and Frankfurt-Mumbai routes report a 15 percent increase in demand annually. The number of visitors are reported from 32,082 in 2023 to 42,061 in 2024, with overnight stays boosted by 24 percent to 101,754. Overall development during January through August are said to already reach 9.5 percent. October and November recored a robust stream of corporate travellers, while December traditionally witnesses a boom in tourist arrivals due to the very famous Christmas market.

Frankfurt also said to have posted an 8.2 percent growth rate in overnight stays by international as well as domestic travellers between October and November, placing 4th behind Berlin, Munich and Hamburg. It also took the 3rd position for overnight stays by just the international travellers.

The Frankfurt tourism board has launched a number of initiatives to increase its attractiveness to the Indian market. These efforts consist of focused promotional campaigns and participation at important Indian travel trade exhibitions like OTR.

Frankfurt hopes to keep up its progress in the future by also offering Indian travellers more upscale tourism experiences including luxury hospitality, Indian-inspired gastronomy, Michelin Guide, bespoke travel and leisure experiences and more.

Frankfurt expects a 25-30 percent rise in Indian luxury travellers in the next 5 years. The city expects to maintain its position as a leading vacation destination in Europe in the years to come.
