In light of his passing, the Udaipur City Palace will remain closed to tourists for today. Arvind Singh Mewar played a pivotal role in expanding the HRH Group of Hotels, the privately-owned chain of heritage palace hotels and resorts in India.

The heritage hospitality community is mourning the loss of Arvind Singh Mewar, a direct descendant of the legendary Rajput king Maharana Pratap and Chairman & Managing Director of the HRH Group of Hotels. He passed away (81) on March 16 in Udaipur after a prolonged illness.

In light of his passing, the Udaipur City Palace will remain closed to tourists for today.

Born into the illustrious House of Mewar, Arvind Singh Mewar pursued higher education abroad, taking a business course at the Metropolitan College in St Albans, United Kingdom, followed by hotel management studies in the United States. He later gained hands-on experience in Chicago, where he worked in the hospitality sector and familiarised himself with international best practices in luxury hotel management.

Bringing this global expertise back to India, he played a pivotal role in expanding the HRH Group of Hotels, the privately-owned chain of heritage palace hotels and resorts in India. Under his leadership, HRH Group became synonymous with regal hospitality, offering experiences in island palaces, museums, galleries, and vintage car collections. His son, Lakshyaraj Singh, is administering the business as the Executive Director of the HRH Group of Hotels.

Throughout his career, Arvind Singh Mewar received numerous accolades for his contributions to tourism. He was an active member of the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) and also served on the advisory board of the Rajasthan government, including initiatives like the Rajiv Gandhi Tourism Development Mission. Additionally, he was an Honorary Patron of the Jaipur Heritage International Festival.
